Youth Fellowship for many years have been at the core of church based youth work. Traditionally the group would comprise of church attending young people who would meet together after church on Sunday evening. While this is still true many groups have had to change somewhat to cope with the diverse nature of young people. We experienced a significant shift in the membership of the YF prompted us to organize much diversified programs to attract the membership and was a period of fellowship building. We had sessions covering various topics, including romantic relationships, anxiety, and mental health. The YF has been actively involved with the Colombo South Area Deanery Youth Assembly (CSADYA) and has participated in several of its programs. One member also attended the Church of Ceylon Youth Movement’s (CCYM’s) 2021 Leadership Camp. The YF has been actively involved with our church congregation.

Today’s challenges, are increasing and retaining YF members, focusing mainly on facilitating the development of close interpersonal relationships with each other and identifying how to facilitate spiritual development and growth with the younger YF members. As plans, we need to create a non-judgmental place for youth to express themselves and grapple with life’s biggest questions.
